On March 3, 2023, former Queen Sofia of Spain attended the traditional thanksgiving to Medinaceli's Christ at the Basilica of Jesus of Medinaceli in Madrid. As a tradition in Spain, the feet of Medinaceli's Christ sculpture is kissed in order to show devotion on the first Friday of March. Every year, on this date, one member of the Spanish royal family visits Jesus de Medinaceli Church to pray to Medinacelli's Christ.
