On December 6, 2021, Queen Sonja and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway attended the funeral service of Karen Christine (Kim) Friele at Oslo Cathedral. Karen Christine Friele, known as Kim Friele, was a Norwegian human rights activist. In 2000, she was appointed a Knight 1st Class of the Order of St. Olav. In 2005, she was proclaimed the fourth most important Norwegian of the century as a result of a public vote conducted by NRK. She died at her home on 22 November 2021, aged 86.
