(Xinhua) Romance film "August Never Ends" topped the Chinese mainland box office chart on Friday, its first screening day, with the daily earnings reaching 17.74 million yuan (around 2.7 million U.S. dollars).
Heart-warming film "Sister" was beaten into second place, pocketing over 15.5 million yuan, data from the China Movie Data Information Network showed Saturday.
It was followed by U.S. film "Godzilla vs Kong," the latest installment in the cinematic MonsterVerse, which earned more than 10.7 million yuan.
Ranking in fourth was the re-released U.S. fantasy film "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring", raking in 2.7 million yuan on Friday, the first day of its return.
