King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia took part in an online memorial ceremony

Stockholm's Great Synagogue. International Day of Remembrance for Holocaust Victims
January 27 is the International Day of Remembrance for Holocaust Victims. On the occasion of the day, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia took part in an online memorial ceremony that took place at Stockholm's Great Synagogue. The online ceremony began with the King and Queen laying stones at the memorial, which is located next to the synagogue. In Jewish tradition, it is common to lay stones, which, unlike flowers, are eternal, on or near a grave to honor the dead. The stones that the King and Queen laid down were taken from Solliden.
