Morning ladies. I can't believe another month has whizzed by so quickly & it's already time to take a look at my top ten picks from Baukjen's latest collection. But before we start I wondered if you were aware that Baukjen are a sustainable brand, who are a member of the Fashion Pact & are B Corp certified? Neither did I until recently.
So what does it mean? Well firstly their mission is to put people & the planet at the heart of everything they do. With the aim of driving lasting positive change in the fashion industry with sustainable practices & an ethnical supply chain.
I think we can all agree that a lot of us have started to make more considered purchases both due to the environment & the uncertainly & crazy times this year has brought. One of the things I love about Baukjen (apart from the fact you know you're going to get a high quality, well designed piece) is that they create timeless clothing. Pieces that can be intermixed & will stand the test of time.
Part of their core values is not only social responsibility & sustainability but also transparency so us as the consumer can see who they are, what they stand for & also who makes their clothes. As an off shot of this Baukjen provide an equal, inclusive & safe environment for their employees & believe that every one of them should feel valued & respected.
Something else I didn't realise but as part of their social responsibility Baukjen also support charities, recycle & donate to develop a circular textile economy. Every year they give at least 10% of their profits to charity, including women's shelters, Women's Aid & Save The Children. Plus you can even send back your old Baukjen clothing & they will ensure it is sustainably recycled.
Along side this Baukjen use many natural fibres in their fabrics, only source wool from farms practising safe sheep husbandry methods & work with their mills to reduce the amount of water consumption & pollution. Plus as I briefly mentioned in last month's post (see here) some of their fabrics are made from recycled clothing & their packaging is 100% plastic free, recyclable & biodegradable. Back to today & I've wearing a couple of new gifted pieces from Baukjen that I'm in love with. Like I mentioned earlier I love my leather & faux leather leggings/trousers so a chunky longer length jumper is one of my 'must haves' for this time of year & you know how I have a huge weakness for a stripe! In terms of sizing I went with my normal size (an 8) in the jumper & because I like my bretons to be on the oversized side I decided to size up to a 10.
