| Danish Queen Margrethe turns 80 today. Margrethe II was born on April 16, 1940 in Copenhagen. Margrethe succeeded her father upon his death on January 14, 1972. The Queen cancelled all of the Royal Danish House’s planned events to be held in connection with the upcoming 80th birthday. The Royal House released a series of photos on the occasion of the birthday. On April 14, DR1 broadcasted a documentary telling the interest of the Queen in art.
