On October 31, 2019, the Duchess of Cornwall hosted a reception, on behalf of the Queen, for winners of the Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition 2019 at Buckingham Palace in London. The Duchess of Cornwall, Vice-Patron of The Royal Commonwealth Society presented prizes to this year's winners on behalf of the Queen. The contest is the world’s oldest international writing competition for schools, and the theme for 2019 was "A Connected Commonwealth", which was launched by the Duchess in Ghana. The contest was founded in 1883 to promote literacy, expression and creativity among young people throughout the Commonwealth. |
