Chinese architects living in 1920s portrayed in upcoming TV drama

(China Plus) A TV drama with a focus on famous Chinese architects living in the 1920s will air on Monday.

Veteran actress Yang Mi plays a lead role in the drama series titled "Zhu Meng Qing Yuan" (筑梦情缘). "We may pass away some day but our architecture will stay there. So constructing unique and nice architectures becomes our common dream," said Yang.

In a belief that architecture is a carrier of traditional Chinese culture, Fu Hanjun, a female architect portrayed by Yang Mi and Shen Qinan, played by Wallace Huo, have made unremitting efforts together in transforming the shantytowns in Shanghai in the hope of replacing extremely congested settlements with new buildings.

But the two architects are in a relationship. "He is more romantic in the drama than in real lifem," said Yang. "He did quite a few romantic things. For instance, when I'm busy, he would come to give me the meals he cooked."

The new TV drama also sees veteran actress Jiang Hongbo in a supporting role.

It will also be available on video platforms in China including iQiyi, Youku and tencent video, as well as Hunan Satellite TV.
