Morning ladies you may recall a few months back I worked with JD Williams showcasing my top picks for Autumn (see here). Well they have just launched a 'Most Wanted' range that features a great range of women's favourite styles of clothing, which can be seen in full here & have asked if I would pick out my favourite pieces & showcase how to style them.
For those of you who've not shopped at JD Williams before they offer a whole host of up to date women's fashion for all shapes & sizes, featuring their own brands as well as some main high street ones that are perfect for us over 40 ladies who believe that life begins at 40 & age is just a number.
So without further a do let's get started with my top buys. Starting with the ever useful biker jacket. Regular readers will know by now my love of all things grey so when I spotted this faux suede biker jacket it was always going to feature. Super soft & flattering, this jacket would be perfect for taking you from Spring to Summer & would be ideal for layering over a pretty summer dress as much as it would jeans, cigarette pants or even a skirt, as I'm wearing further on in the post.
A lightweight crew neck jumper makes a perfect wardrobe staple that's ideal for dressing up or down. Wear for work with some tailored cropped trousers & team with jeans & trainers of a weekend. This fitted jumper also has three quarter sleeves, which add that little bit of extra detailing.
Of course my inner 'Bet' was never going to be able to resist this pleated leopard print skirt. Perfect for dressing up with heels & a camisole come the warmer weather as much as it is for wearing with trainers & a chunky knit whilst its cooler.
Then of course there's the ever tireless black biker jacket & this faux leather version would make a great versatile wardrobe staple. This, the above crew neck jumper, cropped trousers & ballet flats for a smarter day look, or pair with a breton, boyfriend jeans & trainers for everyday style or even wear over a statement dress for a night out.
This black pleated maxi skirt is also perfect for wearing with the above biker jacket - either on casual days with trainers or dressed up with heels for a night out. You'll find a simple black maxi skirt like this will cover you for most situations & makes a great timeless wardrobe staple.
I don't know about you but the recent sunshine has got me counting down the days to Spring & a simple camouflage shacket like the one above makes a great everyday jacket that's ideal for adding a bit of fun to any wardrobe classics. Wear with jeans, trainers & a simple white tee as above, dress up with cropped trousers & a statement blouse or wear with a maxi skirt & a pop of red, as I'm doing later on in today's post.
For days where you want something a little smarter then this leopard print wrap dress is also incredibly versatile. Team with heeled ankle boots & a trench for the office, thrown on a biker jacket for a night out, or pair with wedge espadrilles & a denim jacket come the summer.
Finally if like me you own quite a few plain pieces of clothing then think about investing in some brightly coloured shoes. Ankle boots like these or the red ballet pumps below are perfect for addig a pop of colour & interest to your look.
So how would I wear the pieces I've featured above? Well I've had a little trying on session just to show you some of the ways I'd style this pieces.
Starting with the leopard print wrap dress, which is incredibly flattering, super comfy to wear & would be perfect for packing as it doesn't crease. As you can see from the pictures I've brought out the cobalt blue in the print by teaming it with the kitten heel boots.
In terms of sizing I'm generally a size 8 in clothes & 7 in shoes but have sized down to a size 6 in the boots, which are plenty big enough & the dress is a 10 & as you can see from the photos fits perfectly. I think any smaller & it would have been a little too fitted for my liking.
The next look I've put together is one of my favourite combinations I wear all year round. I've teamed the camouflage jacket (size 10) with the crew neck jumper (size 8/10) & paired it with the pleated maxi skirt (size 10 & again the fit is spot on) & then added a splash of colour with the ballet pumps.
Similarly in the next look I've teamed the pleated leopard print skirt (size 10 & fits perfectly) with the grey crew neck & brought the look to life with the cobalt blue ankle boots.
Then for the next look I wanted to show how the leopard print dress could be worn for a night out & you could of course team with some black high heeled sandals once the weather warms up.
Finally my outfit for today is all about the black pleated maxi paired with the grey crew neck & faux suede biker, finished off with the red ballet pumps. The skirt has the most lovely sheen to it & drapes beautifully. Perfect for those days you fancy a bit of swish factor!
