| Yesterday, on October 31, 2018, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima attended the meeting of the Council of State, held at the Council Hall of Binnenhof building in The Hague. The meeting was held on the occasion of retirement of Vice President Piet Hein Donner. The Council of State makes recommendations to the government and parliament about legislations and administration and is the highest general administrative judge in the country. The King is the President of the Council of State but rarely attends the meetings, and Vice President chairs the meetings. The Queen is a member of the Council of State.
