A-list actors line up for a new Hong Kong anti-corruption film

(China Plus) A new film about anti-corruption efforts in Hong Kong, "Integrity," which includes A-list actors Lau Ching-Wan and Nick Cheung, is soon due out in February.

Director Alan Mak, promoting his new film in Beijing, explained to the media why he chose to tackle the subject of corruption.

"In 2003, ICAC dealt with a case of illicit cigarette trade, which caused quite a stir in Hong Kong.

From then on, I hoped I could shoot a film around smuggling. However, ICAC, the Independent Commission against Corruption, is a relatively closed-door department, so ordinary citizens don't understand how it operates. A chance came to me two years ago thanks to a cooperation program with them. This is when I began to learn more about it," said Mak.

Chinese movie goers will be able to see co-stars Lau Ching-Wan and Nick Cheung in collaboration once again following their film "The White Storm" which came out five years ago.
