King Carl Gustaf & Queen Silvia attended the Kröningsåret 1818 symposium

On August 16, 2018, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden attended the "Kröningsåret 1818" (The Coronation Year 1818) Symposium arranged by the Bernadotte Society at Örebro Castle. King Carl XIII died on February 5, 1818, and Bernadotte ascended the throne. His coronation in Sweden took place on May 11th, and he took the name King Carl XIV Johan or Charles III John (Johan's original name was Jean-Baptiste-Jules Bernadotte). In September, he was crowned in Norway, as King Carl III Johan. Thus began the Bernadotte dynasty in Sweden, which continues today.
