Jam Hsiao confirmed to host 29th Golden Melody Awards

(Toggle) The organising committee for the 29th Golden Melody Awards confirmed during an interview with the media yesterday (May 21) that Taiwanese singer Jam Hsiao will replace Taiwanese comedian Mickey Huang as the main host of the awards ceremony, set to take place on June 23.

The announcement came as a surprise to many, as the 31-year-old singer is known for keeping his answers brief during interviews, hence earning himself the title of a “man of few words”. Furthermore, his manager, Summer, shut down all speculations last week by denying the rumours in a media statement.

Comedian Mickey Huang, who hosted the show for the past two years, spoke to the media to share his opinion.

“If the new host is Jam, I believe it’ll be lots of fun. This is an interesting move by Taiwan’s entertainment industry,” he shared. “Having hosted for a long time, I sometimes face obstacles too and fail to perform better. This is a good decision made by the organising committee, because times are changing, and we can look forward to new changes in the same way as well.”

The veteran host cheekily added that he now “have more time for other projects”, and let on that he will share hosting tips and tricks with Jam, if the singer is keen.

“For all you know, he may not be interested to learn from me,” he joked.
