Dee Hsu confirms her role in ‘Meteor Garden’ drama reboot

(Toggle) Taiwanese actress Dee Hsu, recently confirmed that she would indeed be starring in the highly anticipated Meteor Garden drama reboot, 16 years after the original series premiered in Taiwan.

Dee announced the good news on Weibo on Friday, posting pictures of herself along with the new cast, which consists of Taiwanese actor Darren Chen (playing Hua Ze Lei) as well as Chinese actors Dylan Wang (Dao Ming Si), Connor Leong (Mei Zuo), and Caesar Wu (Xi Men).

“I finally got the role in Meteor Garden and I am happy even though it may only be a supporting role of the lead character’s sister. Those who said I should play the mother are so wrong,” she joked.

The role of the sister, Dao Ming Zhuang, was previously portrayed by Mary Hsu, and Barbie, who was the former lead actress in the original drama series, have expressed her approval of Dee’s participation in this remake.

The film’s producer, Angie Chai, also forwarded Dee’s post, and also shared that filming had already began two days ago. The drama is set to premiere next year.

The original series, which premiered in 2001, was a mega hit across Asia and such a phenomenon that the four male leads recorded albums and went on concert tours as the boyband F4.
