(CRI) Hollywood star Michael Fassbender is now in Beijing, promoting his new fantasy film Assassin's Creed, a franchise centered on an action-adventure video-game series.
Fassbender plays Callum Lynch, who discovers he is actually a descendant of a secret Assassins society.
Meanwhile, Fassbender is also the producer on the film. He says a stuntman actually performed a fall of over 38 meters - they did not fake it with special effects.
"Because that's kind of how we approach the whole film, I mean, the kind of home of real action stunts here in China. So we were trying to keep honest. And it was just important for us to do it, in a kind of old-school way. Nowadays, a lot of this sort of films are very much dominated by CGI. And we wanted to see, according to the game, how much what happened in the game, you can actually do it for real. And it turns out quite a lot."
Assassin's Creed has a star-studded cast, including Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson and Michael K. Williams joining Fassbender and Marion Cotillard.
Assassin's Creed depicts a centuries-old struggle between Assassins, who fight for peace with free will, and the Templars, who desire peace through control.
Both 3D and IMAX 3D versions of Assassin's Creed will open in Chinese theatres this coming Friday.
