A new Chinese romantic comedy, Some Like It Hot, starring famous Chinese comedian Xiao Shenyang and actress Yan Ni, kicked off advanced screenings on Monday in a dozen Chinese cities before its formal release.

Yan Ni, who also acted in the just released crime epic the Wasted Times, portrays a leading role as a lonely female boss Ma Lilian in Some Like It Hot. The actress outlined her role.

"She's a very successful career woman. Meanwhile, she is a relationship virgin. She has a plan to prove her charisma as a woman. But she deals with romance in a same way as she handles her work. Without any experience, she seeks ways online, to express her feelings. One of her approaches is whipping the man she loved."

Starring a slew of China's popular comedians Xiao Yang, Xiao Shenyang, Qiao Shan and Ailun, the film received positive reviews from acclaimed director Xu Zheng, who took part in the premiere event.

Co-directed by Song Xiaofei and Dong Xu, the movie is about an adventure of a man, upon hearing the news that his best friend died in an accident, breaks away from his boring life in search of love.

The film also offers Clara Lee another chance to restart her career as an actress following her termination of a contract with Polaris Entertainment, her former agency. In 2014, she sued the CEO for sexual harassment.

The movie is set to hit theaters during the lucrative holiday season on December 30th.
