On July 9, 2023, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan attended the opening ceremony of the 22nd World Congress of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFACI) at PACIFICO Yokohama in Kanagawa. The IFACI, founded in September 1957, is a multinational federation of National Member Organizations, each one representing the engineering and scientific societies concerned with automatic control in its own country.
