On January 19, 2023, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain attended the board meeting of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) at its headquarters in Madrid. The Royal Spanish Academy (RAE - Real Academia Espanola) is Spain's official royal institution founded in 1713 that has the mission of ensuring the stability of the Spanish language.
The RAE dedicates itself to language planning by promoting linguistic unity within and between various territories to ensure a common standard. At the meeting, some issues of the International Congress of the Spanish Language were discussed, which will take place in Cadiz from March 27 to 30.
