Norwegian Royal family attended a ceremony held for the 75th Liberation Day and National Veterans Day

On May 8, 2020, King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway attended a ceremony held on the occasion of the 75th Liberation Day and National Veterans Day at Akershus Fortress.

During the formal ceremony, the King placed a wreath at the national monument at the fortress. Due to the corona pandemic, the ceremony held at Akershus Fortress took place without an audience. Liberation Day in Norway is on May 8. On that day, the end of the German occupation during World War II from 1940 to 1945 is celebrated. Since 2010, Liberation Day has also been celebrated as National Veterans Day in Norway.
