| On September 23, 2019, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia visited Gran Canaria to view the areas affected by August’s forest fires that caused widespread devastation across a large area of the island. The King and Queen attended a meeting with regional government officials in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and then visited the Tejeda-Valleseco area. As a result of August's fires in Gran Canaria, 6000 hectares of forest were burned and 9000 people living in the region were evacuated. |
