The Emperor and the Empress hosted a reception for leaders of the African nations

On August 30, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako held a reception at the Imperial Palace for leaders of the African nations attending the seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD). The Imperial family members including Emperor Naruhito, Empress Masako, Japan's Crown Prince Akishino, and Princess Kiko welcomed and mingled with the guests during the tea reception. The Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development, TICAD took place from August 28-30 under the theme "Africa and Yokohama, sharing passion for the future."
