| On July 5, 2019, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium received Belgian legend cyclist Baron Eddy Merckx at the Royal Castle in Brussels on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his first victory in Tour de France in 1969, on the eve of the start of the 106th edition of Tour de France cycling race. Eddy Merckx was accompanied by his family and his teammates from 1969. A delegation from the Amaury Sport Organization and general directors of the 22 teams participating in Tour de France 2019 were also present.
