How to Dress Up Your Cover-Up for Cocktail Hour

After preaching the benefits of versatility for almost 8 years I finally get to show you why your travel/summer wardrobe should include at least a few of these chameleons. Case in point, the cover-up I am sporting in today’s post. I took it on a recent impromptu trip to Palm Springs, and it ended up being that one thing I wore the most. Why?

Well, it was just the perfect thing to throw over jeans and a bikini top during cocktail hour. To complete this look, I opted for nude heels (another super versatile item to have) and a straw bag. Chic, comfortable and stylish, I really love the relaxed yet polished vibe of a good maxi belted cover-up dress. Another way I love to wear it is with shorts & scrappy heels (kind of like what I did here).

Yet, it did just as well during the day paired with a net bag & a pair of woven sandals. Great thing to walk around in at the resort, I also took a similar one to a recent trip to Hawaii and ended up practically living in one. A quick style note: during day, I definitely like to opt for comfortable flat sandals (the ones I am wearing are sold out, but I found the cutest version here), but add just a bit of drama with statement earrings like the gorgeous oversized pearl hoops I am sporting in today’s post. They are actually my favorite at the moment, which is why you’ve been seeing them so much lately. Hope you don’t mind!
