On June 12, 2019, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde attended presentation ceremony of The King Baudouin Prize for Development, held at Royal Palace in Brussels. This year, The King Baudouin Foundation awards the African Development Prize to Wecyclers, a Lagos based waste management start-up. Wecyclers is a for-profit social enterprise that promotes environmental sustainability, socioeconomic development, and community health by providing convenient recycling services in densely populated urban neighborhoods. The prize highlights innovative initiatives that improve the quality of life by encouraging locals to take charge of their own development. |
