On June 2, 2019, Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako attended the 70th National Tree Planting Festival at the Aichi Prefecture Forest Park in the central prefecture of Aichi. About 10,000 people from across Japan also took part in this year's event. The national tree-planting festival is a key event in Japan's decades-old greenery campaign that was launched following the end of World War II. The Emperor and Empress also visited a medical facility for children with disabilities before returning to Tokyo. |
