On May 7, 2019, Queen Elizabeth II hosted a luncheon for Members of the Order of Merit at Windsor Castle in London. Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, who has been a Member of the Order of Merit since 1968, also attended the luncheon. The Order of Merit was originally created by King Edward VII in 1902 and is a special honour, which can be given only by the Sovereign, to recognise great accomplishments in the fields of science, literature, arts and learning |
