HK star Alex To holds a star-studded fashion show

Hong Kong singer Alex To held a runway show on Tuesday in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, to launch the new line from his fashion brand MNA, with the support and attendance of many super-celebrity friends.

The 57-year-old singer launched his latest line of menswear at the MNA 2019 A/W Fashion Show. To bolster the show's success, he summoned all-star support, including Hong Kong legends Tony Leung, Eric Tsang, Jordan Chan, Kenny Bee, Cecilia Yip, Anna Ueyama and Eric Moo, as well as American pop royalty icon Jermaine Jackson.
Alex To became a pop sensation in China starting in 1985, and has maintained his star status over a long career with numerous albums, electrifying dance moves and showmanship. His songs can be said to be a part of the soundtrack of generations. But over the past decade, he has explored another interest — fashion design — building his own menswear brand, Mute Nostril Agony, or MNA.
Although MNA has encountered difficulties during the past decade, the brand has managed to be reborn through To's persistence. This show, in fact, was his first exclusive event for his brand since MNA was launched nearly ten years ago. To said he "oversaw all aspects" of the show, from the clothing designs to staging and music. "I intended to mix performance and music with the new designs," he said.
He added that this runway show was "a dream come true" for him.
The new pieces demonstrate MNA's intention to inject fresh blood into the fashion world with bold, innovative, even sci-fi designs, combining eclectic details inspired by space travel, athletics, the classic "biker" look, and American pop icon Michael Jackson, whom To met in Hong Kong in 1987. To's partner Hollyworld expressed a belief that his designs will fit the young generation's lifestyle and attitude, as he attempts to set new trends. According to Hollyworld, To's clothing line will be sold soon in stores and online, both domestically and internationally.
Alex To has also continued with his music career, releasing his new album "Get Up" in early May, and plans to kick off a world concert tour in the near future.
