On April 23, 2019, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain attended 2018 Miguel de Cervantes Literature Award in Spanish Language ceremony held at Auditorium of the University of Alcalá in Madrid. 95-year-old Uruguayan poet Mrs. Ida Vitale became the winner of 2018 Miguel de Cervantes Literature Award in Spanish Language. Vitale was born in 1923 and is the last surviving member of a Uruguayan art movement known as the "Generation of 45". Vitale currently lives in USA. In 2016, Vitale was awarded the Federico Garcia Lorca International Poetry Prize. |
