Morning ladies. One item of clothing that probably most of us wear a lot of the time but can be a complete nightmare to buy is jeans. Sizing, length, fit, let alone style & finding the right one to suit our body shape can be a complete minefield.
On top of that there's the effort it takes to try them on, especially if you're after a skinny style. I don't know about you but when I'm in the confines of a changing room, which isn't that roomy at the best of times, trying to shimmy my way in & out of a pair isn't pleasant & is something I have to work myself up to, especially if there's more than one pair to try & I'm sure I'm not alone!
In an effort to help alleviate the traumas that is jeans shopping Marks & Spencer have recently launched a range of 'Best Fit Jeans'. Which promises to offer stylishly designed jeans in various colours/washes with a new improved fit, incorporating super soft fabric & a comfortable stretch waistbands.
Sculpt & Lift Roma Rise Skinny Leg Jeans (I'm wearing a size 8 short)
Sound too good to be true? Well Marks asked me if I'd take a look & I was more than happy to pop into my local store to do a bit of research. After all when I hear the words super soft fabric & comfortable stretch waistband I must admit the words jeggings comes to mind & I have images of jeans that are far too stretchy & require constant hoisting up!
So let's talk styles. The first pair I'm wearing in the images above are their Sculpt & Lift Roma Rise Skinny Leg Jeans, that feature their 'bum lift technology' to lift & shape. As you can see from the pictures, if like me you love a slightly cropped jean then these in a short finish at the perfect point (I'm 5'7") & are true to size. They'd be ideal for teaming with ballet pumps, such as these come the Spring with this oversized shirt. Plus the denim wash on these are a gorgeous shade of blue & perfect for the coming season, or if you prefer are also available in black.
Ivy Skinny Ankle Grazer Jeans (I'm wearing a size 6 regular)
The next pair I tried on is one of Marks' new designs, the Ivy Skinny Ankle Grazer Jeans. A skinny fitting jean, that features super soft fabric (I mean seriously no shimming was involved in trying to get these on or off!) as the fabric has a great softness & stretch, but importantly also feels like it will hold you in, without kneeing after the first wear. I'd advise sizing down in these & they're available in black, grey, dark indigo (which are the ones I'm wearing ) & medium indigo, with 3 different lengths. Style with a navy biker jacket such as this one, this stripe sweatshirt & these loafers.
Sienna Straight Ankle Grazer (I'm wearing a size 6 regular)
The next pair I'm wearing is their new Sienna Straight Ankle Grazer, which is a great straight leg, that comes in black, dark, medium & light indigo. I'm wearing the black & have turned the hems up for a more fitted boyfriend feel. In terms of sizing, I've sized down in these & the regular length fall at the right point, should you want a full length style. Plus they also come in 3 different lengths. These would be perfect for a casual weekend style, worn with this blazer, this tee & these trainers.
Mid Rise Relaxed Slim Leg Jeans (I'm wearing a size 8 short)
Next up are Marks' Mid Rise Relaxed Slim Leg Jeans, that I've previously featured in various posts in the past few weeks & available in both light & mid blue (I'm wearing the mid blue). Depending on the fit you're after I would generally advise sizing down. Unfortunately my local store didn't have a size 6 for me to try but as you can see from the above pictures the size 8 have quite a boyfriend look to them. I'd style these with a jacket like this one, this t-shirt & these shoes.
360 Contour Mid Rise Slim Leg Jeans (I'm wearing a size 6 regular)
The last pair I tried on is their 360 Contour Mid Rise Slim Leg Jeans, which are available in 3 different lengths & either black (which I'm wearing) or dark indigo & have an innovative 360 contour stretch, to offer comfort & free movement. Again I would say these come up slightly on the large size so size down. Personally I'd team with this blouse & these ankle boots.
Finally the one pair I was unable to try in store is the third new design that Marks have launched & is called their Lily Slim Ankle Grazer Jeans. Designed to offer a slim, leg lengthening fit with strategically placed back pockets for a flattering silhouette. Available in 4 shades - black, dark & light indigo & white & 3 different lengths. These jeans would be ideal for dressing up for an evening with a blazer & pair of heels.
So what did I think of my trying on session? Well I have to say I was really impressed - the fit & quality of the denim was brilliant & I think you'd go a long way to find jeans that are so easy to get on & off & comfortable to wear. Great stretch, with real comfort but not in a kneeing kind of way after an hour or so of wear.
Of course Marks being Marks they also offer various other styles of jeans to tempt you, including cigarette, slim bootcut, wide leg & super skinny, to name just a few & their complete range can be seen here.
Back to today & it's all about the understated style with an ever useful crew neck cashmere jumper. I've styled my navy one with a tiered black maxi skirt, wide leather waist belt & blue heeled ankle boots.
