On the third day of their visit to Germany, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima visited the Völklinger Ironworks which is a UNESCO Industrial World Heritage Site. 2018 is the European Year of Culture Heritage, with the motto ‘Our heritage: where the past meets the future’. The King and the Queen toured the former factory complex and then the royal couple met with and talked to specialists and international students participating in a two-day conference on developments in industrial culture in Europe. The visit to Saarland ended at Saarland University Medical Centre in Homburg. |
