(Toggle) Chinese actor Li Chen popped the question to Chinese actress Fan Bingbing on her birthday last year (Sep 16), in a proposal that has since gone viral.
Yesterday marks the first Valentine’s Day since the pair’s engagement. However, they were “regretfully” unable to spend it together due to individual work commitments.
Nonetheless, despite being in two different countries, the 39-year-old actor made the effort to surprise his fiancée through special arrangements.
“Due to work commitments, I am unable to spend the day by your side. To express my feelings of regret, I have asked my friends to prepare a little surprise for you,” Li Chen wrote on his Weibo yesterday (Feb 14).
In the photos he shared, a cake was prepared, surrounded by lighted candles decorated in the shape of a heart. It is also accompanied with a message that reads ‘From a loving Chen Er [Li Chen]’.
To show that he is always by the actress’ side despite being physically apart, the actor also placed his toy doll look-alike beside Bingbing’s doll figurine, sending a romantic message to his fiancée.
“I can’t wait for you to wrap up and come home for reunion dinner,” Li Chen wrote in his post, while wishing Bingbing the best in her work.
