Straw Basket Bag
Morning ladies, today I thought we'd take a look at outfit inspiration that's perfect for wearing whilst travelling on our holidays.
I don't know about you but for me what to wear as we make our escape from our everyday routine to that blissful time where the only dilemma is where & what to eat for dinner & should you have that extra cocktail or two, is just as important as what to pack in your suitcase.
Naturally comfort is key especially if you're heading on a long haul flight but equally style & layers can also play a key part. Not to mention trying to portray a laid back effortless style that doesn't look like you've tried too hard.
One brand you can always rely on for inspiring you in timeless laid back chic is The White Company. They just seem to get it right every time in terms of stylish classics that you'll wear time after time.
Flat Tassel Tie Espadrilles
As you can see above & below I've put together some looks that should cover most options. For hot journeys in a car layer boyfriend denim shorts with pumps & an oversized shirt & finish the look off with a stunning basket shopper & panama. Alternatively if you're heading off on a long haul flight then layers & comfort are key so either a maxi dress & flats teamed with a biker jacket & scarf or boyfriend jeans with a loose fit thin jumper & biker for a more casual feel will be perfect.
Or if a biker jacket isn't your thing than swap for a long knitted coatigan, something you can wrap up in & that will give comfort when the air conditioning is blaring out on the plane. Equally if you're flying to Europe & need to be cool for those glorious temperatures when you step of the plane then a simple linen shift dress styled with some espadrilles & your straw shopper, which can easily double up as your beach bag. Just throw on a knitted jacket or coatigan for warmth whilst travelling & this can then easily be rolled up & placed in your wicker basket once you arrive.
I would quite happily wear all of the above items & it was a tough call deciding what to pick when The White Company contacted me to see if I would like to style some of their latest collection but after much thought I choose the following pieces.
Firstly this timeless straw basket that makes not only the perfect bag for hand luggage as it's perfect for carrying all your jackets & jumpers once you land but it can also double up as your beach bag not to mention ideal for any market excursions. Plus of course once back home it makes the ideal shopper too. Since I've started using my straw baskets for shopping at home I wish I'd done it a long time ago, instead of just keeping them for holidays, as they're so much more stylish than these bags for life.
The second item I picked was this classic white silk shirt. A timeless wardrobe addition that is elegant & will never date. Ideal for teaming with cigarette pants to leather leggings to distressed denim. Not to mention denim shorts once on your holiday or even for travelling - that little bit of luxury that will keep you cool & stylish. Plus of course perfect for the cooler months ahead for layering under a simple cashmere jumper or jacket.

My final pick are these wedge espadrille sandals. Now I've not previously dipped my toe in to the espadrille trend as I've been looking for the right pair to add to my wardrobe that ticked all my boxes - neutral in colour so they will go with anything & everything I could possibly think of taking away with me. Comfy & practical to walk in - so when thinking about wearing them in hotter climates this meant for me I wanted an open toe & a soft ankle strap that would not dig in nor feel loose & unsupportive like lace up ankle ones might, considering the heel height & the fact we walk to the port each evening. Plus I needed them not to be too tight or narrow as I have wider feet & of a decent height so that they would lift the length of some of my longer maxi dresses.
These wedge sandals don't disappoint - yes they're high but they don't feel too high due to the platform sole so easy to walk in & negotiate up & down stairs. The ankle strap is extremely comfortable & the elastic around the buckle is extremely giving meaning they're supportive but don't dig in. The colour is a really lovely soft nude so will definitely go with everything in your wardrobe not to mention suitcase & they're pretty wide in the fit too. Some people had left reviews online saying they were a little narrow in fit so I was a little concerned but these don't feel tight at all. Plus of course being suede they're going to give. Finally they are extremely flattering & slimming on your legs - what more could us girls want?!!
We've got just under a month till we fly out on holiday so instead of showing you how I'd style these items for jetting away I'm styling them for a simple Sunday. Although to be honest I'd probably just throw on a classic navy blazer for travelling for a stylish, timeless look that you can never go wrong with. In terms of sizing I would say everything is pretty true to size, I'm wearing a size 8 in the shirt & size 40 in the espadrilles.
