Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau is returning to work and ready to promote his new film after suffering from a severe injury necessitating a six-month convalescence.
To his fans' delight, Lau posted a photo and a caption "Are you ready?" on Monday, which prompted much guesswork. On Tuesday, producers of "The Adventures" announced that Lau take part in the film's promotional tour, the first stop being Taiwan on Aug. 10.
"The Adventures" is directed by Stephen Fung and starring his new wife, actress Shu Qi. The two got married during the filming. The film also stars Jean Reno and Andy Lau, the latter also having served as an executive producer.
The film is a treasure hunt action drama about the quest of three thieves, who traverse Europe while dodging the pursuit of a police officer. The film is set for release on Aug. 11 in China.
Lau was injured after he fell off a horse in an accident while filming a commercial in Thailand on Jan. 17, 2017, which resulted in a pelvic laceration. He put all work on hold for six months to achieve recovery, including promotion of his film "Shock Wave" in April as well as dozens of concerts and shows.
The star is one of Hong Kong's most successful actors and singers. He is one of the four "Heavenly Kings" of Cantopop, and has acted in more than 100 films, including the award-winning "Infernal Affairs," "A Simple Life" and "The Great Wall."
