Morning ladies with summer holidays fast approaching I thought it would be a good time to look at affordable sportswear. As no doubt like me, you're just counted how many weeks till you jet off on your holidays & are starting to think about your bikini body.
I don't think many of us can look forward to that initial first day when our bodies seem so white & it all feels a little alien to be wearing the equivalent of your underwear in public but apart from a good spray tan the only other thing that's going to help is getting bikini ready.
Now as much as I'd love to say I go on a pre-holiday detox/diet I'm afraid I love my food far too much & lets face it life really is too short. Which is where my love (& I use that term loosely) of keeping fit comes in. Instead of ditching the food & permanetly eating just a lettuce leaf I've learnt to enjoy exercising & keeping fit. As not only does it mean I can still enjoy my favourite foods (although of course after a certain age it's definitely more a case of everything in moderation!) but I've started to see the benefits not only in terms of toning up but pushing myself & seeing what I & my body are capable of. Yes I might still get out of breath during a run & collapse as soon as I get home but I can now run further than just to the corner of the road without needing to stop & for me that challenge & also time away from a computer/mobile phone is invaluable. As someone whose mind never stops going for a run stops me thinking & instead I just find myself concentrating on reaching the next goal & of course breathing!
As I've mentioned before getting fit doesn't have to cost a fortune - you just need some sportswear & a pair of trainers to run. I've never seen the appeal of belonging to a gym (I'd feel far too self conscious to enjoy going) so I've found ways of incorporating exercise without the need to join, which I've previously detailed here.

Of course another way is to buy an exercise DVD & I've heard great things about Davina's 30 Day Fat Burn & who wouldn't want her abs? In fact she's also recently launched Davina Trains The Nation - a sportwear collection in collaboration with F & F Clothing at Tesco offering great designs at really affordable prices.
I've been asked by Tesco if I would take a look at the range & see what I thought of its performance. But before I show you what I picked & how I found it I've shared my top picks from the collection above. As you can see it's great for mixing & matching & allows you to go with a style that suits you & what you're comfortable wearing & there's lots of other styles & designs available here.
As you can see from the above pictures I went for something a little different to my normal & opted to trial a patterned pair of cropped leggings, which I've styled with a plain racerback vest top & an all important zip through hoodie as I find layers when running first thing are important & this top is perfect for tying round my waist if I get too hot.
In terms of sizing I'm wearing an XS in all the items apart from the cropped top which starts in a S. I'm generally a UK 8 & would say the fit of all the items I've test driven are pretty true to size & give a comfortable fit, although I found the vest top comes up a little small so depending on the fit you're after you may want to size up.
Plus I just love the extra detailing such as the mesh panels to the lower half of the side of the cropped leggings. As well as the fact there's a zip pocket to the back to the waistband for storing your keys & the cropped top even has removable padded inserts, which is just brilliant as we all know sports bras tend not to be the most flattering on our figures.
So what did I think of their performance? Well I've worn the clothing for both running & pilates & I'm pretty impressed. The breathable quick drying material meant that I didn't get too hot & sweaty during either workout & the support & lycra felt adequate & meant there was no need to re-adjust or pull my waistband up even during some of the pilates moves that can play havoc with your waistband slipping to areas you'd rather it didn't!
So if you're looking to treat yourself to some new gym wear or thinking of giving running a go but don't want to outlay a fortune in case it's just not for you I'd strongly suggest you get online & check out the range as it's even comparable to some of my sportswear I've paid a lot more for in the past.

Back to today & it's simple Sunday styling with a metallic tee & boyfriend jeans.
I absolutely love these J Crew tees - cap sleeved with a deep 'V' neckline so super flattering & available in a whole host of colours here, with the metallics ones here. I may have purchased both the metallic ones with a recent 20% off offer as they're ideal for dressing up a simple denim look.

So ladies anyone else checked out Davina's new range? Perhaps you swear by her DVD's & are already a fan of Tesco's sportwear & wouldn't look any where else? Or maybe you didn't even realise that sportswear was on offer with your weekly food shop but will check it out on your next visit. Or maybe you've got a top tip to share for getting bikini ready? Whatever your thoughts I'd love to hear.
Enjoy your Sunday ladies & I'll see you in the morning.
