Sohu TV drama ‘Medical Examiner Dr. Qin’ receives more than 1.2 billion views


(Global Times) The cast of Medical Examiner Dr. Qin attend a press conference in Beijing on Saturday.

According to statistics released by streaming company Sohu TV on Saturday at a press conference in Beijing, the entire first season of drama Medical Examiner Dr. Qin, which released its last episode on December 1, has been viewed more than 1.2 billion times on Sohu TV.

The drama received an additional 147 million views on popular Chinese streaming platform Bilibili.

Since its debut on October 13, Dr. Qin has gathered a large number of followers with its tense storytelling and bold plots. It is currently one of the most popular dramas released in 2016.

The show follows an investigative team consisting of medical examiner Qin Ming, his assistant Li Dabao and police officer Lin Tao as they solve mysterious criminal cases. 

According to Sohu TV CEO Charles Zhang, Dr. Qin is a good beginning for the company's attempts at self-made productions. He also announced that Sohu TV has already greenlit a second and third season.
