Moana opens with successes in China, North America

(CRI) Disney's Moana swept the North America box office on the Thanksgiving weekend, taking in more than 80 million US dollars over the five-day holiday period.

It's the second-strongest opening ever for a Disney animated feature in North America, behind Frozen.

It also had a strong opening on the Chinese mainland, accounting for the majority of the movie's weekend box office take internatinoally.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them had a strong holiday weekend in North America, holding on to second spot in its second weekend. It brought in nearly 66 million US in North
America for a 10 day global total of nearly 474 million.

Doctor Strange rounded out the top three.
