It was a very hot July summer day. It was probably more than 30C on the beach. I was sweating and I was so glad that it was the week before peak season otherwise finding a free sunbed would have been a challenge.
The sea however was a little bit wild than normal. Strong waves came crashing on to the shore and many beachgoers were just swimming and hanging around the shorelines, intrigued and entertained at the behavior of the sea but afraid of being carried away into the sea by the strong water currents. I saw however a few who were seriously playing with the waves.
This reminded me of our summer holiday in Kefalonia where we spent an afternoon as well at Myrtos Beach and witnessed a guy came rushing back to shore with half his face covered in blood. What happened was he dared to swim and got engulfed in the strong waves. The experience must have been like being tossed and turned inside a laundry machine!
So anyway I joined Dutchman just swimming along the shore. And because it was so hot, I wore my sunglasses. Bad move. Before I knew it, a huge wave caught me off guard and threw me down on to the beach floor. It all happened in a split of a second. I was stunned. Then Dutchman pointed at my sunglasses floating2 meters away from me, but before I could grab it another big wave hit me.
Thrown again on to the beach floor. I resurfaced, catching my breath and my sunglasses was gone.
I don’t like wasting money but the opportunist in me is saying – It’s an excuse to buy a new one! (And I did, haha)
So I am leaving you with my pictures of Kathisma Beach. If you visit Lefkada, do check this stunning beach out. There are several beach clubs, bars and tavernas on the beach. We stayed at Copla Beach Bar, highly recommended!
Kathisma Beach is facing the wide Ionian Sea.
On the winding road to Kathisma Beach, not too far away from Agios Nikitas and 10-15 minutes away from Lefkada Town.
The sea here is mixture of cerulean blue and azure blue.
Just relaxing at the beach. Doing nothing much. I did took many pictures, although some of the photos here were the Dutchman's as well.
Apartments, houses and villas on the hillside.
Love the colour of the beach. These shades of blue though are very typical in the Greek Islands.
As you can see I am literally people watching, haha.
He's got some balls: Diving straight into the strong waves!
Kathisma Beach panorama from Copla Beach Bar shoreline.
Paragliding here at Kathisma Beach. There are watersports available on the beach as well.
